Rabbi Hale has the distinction of being a protege of one of the pre-eminent Sofers of the 20th century, Dr. Rabbi Eric Ray, z”l. Rabbi Hale is also an ordained Rabbi, having studied at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and graduating in 1997. In 2001, following several years of congregational work and experience, he began apprenticing with Rabbi Eric Ray to become a sofer STaM. Throughout his rabbinate Rabbi Hale has remained committed to his interest in hands-on-Judaism.
